For Forsyth Public Library, 2009 was a historic year. The year’s highlights included an appearance by Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, who visited the library along with officials from Ameren Illinois Utilities to promote the library’s free distribution of Kill A Watt EZ power meters to help consumers make informed decisions about the energy costs of their appli- ances. Forsyth Library was one of only two libraries in the state selected to host Quinn’s April announcement about this new library service. Other highlights of the year: - setting a new record of 7,000 for a single month of circulation
- registering a record number of participants (445) for the summer reading program
- beginning class visits from Forsyth’s second elementary school, Decatur Christian School
- being one of only 258 libraries nationwide to be named among “America’s Star Libraries.”
