Forsyth Public Library stars in national ratings
Forsyth Public Library is among 258 libraries nationwide honored with a star rating by the Library Journal Index of Public Library Service. “While it is an honor, it’s really just a snapshot of how satisfied the community is with this library and how supportive they continue to be,” said Head Librarian Jean Campbell. The three-star rating is based on four statistics including per capita circulation, visits, program atten- dance and public Internet terminal uses. Forsyth was judged in the category of libraries with an expen- diture range of $200,000-$399,000. Campbell said the library never uses all of its $400,000 in budgeted mon- ies and will approach the $390,000 mark this year. Forsyth’s library has one of the highest per capita circulations in the state, according to Campbell. Circulation last year was 71,352, and attendance was recorded at 49,040. |
